Biography

Louis Archambault is a physics professor specializing in medical physics. The essence of his research lies in the improvement of cancer treatments and, in particular, radiotherapy, through the development of new tools and the exploitation of medical imaging data science. He is interested in the precise mapping of radiation doses used in radiotherapy, and in predicting the evolution of cancer treatments. His laboratory, called "Clairvoyance", is a good illustration of this ambition to "see" radiation doses and predict the evolution of treatments. He is a recognized specialist in optical dosimetry. Among other things, he has been instrumental in developing new instruments such as multipoint dosimeters for rapid, accurate measurement of radiation doses in radiotherapy, a necessity in view of the growing complexity of these treatments. His work also focuses on the use of data science and artificial intelligence to integrate information from medical imaging (CT scans, positron emission tomography, magnetic resonance imaging) into support systems for oncology clinical teams. His work has led, among other things, to the creation of a deep learning system for predicting the evolution of prostate cancer.
